Add a Monogram, Name, Title or Custom Image to your Book
For your name or monogram, I set metal type, one letter at a time into a clamping holder, heat it to 250 degrees, and place gold foil between the leather and the hot type for a gold impression. For blind embossing, the type is heated much higher to make a deep impression directly into the leather. Several of my sets of type are very old and are of different sizes. The type holder holds up to 2 lines of 18 characters each, depending on font styles.
A title or custom image is stamped with larger equipment in a local commercial bindery. For an image, a magnesium die is made. Call for pricing and directions for making a die.
