This is the most demanding and time consuming binding that I make. It has a soft, yet durable full-grained brown or black leather medieval style cover embellished with braided leather and medieval gold designs on the spine, and two knot-and-loop closures. The knots and braids are bulky, and have to be added in stages. I use carpenter's clamps and cobbler's glue to hold it togethe for at least 24 hours each for braids and knots and loops. The gold designs are your choice of either fragments from very old books (always different depending on what I have recently found) or leather that I stamp with medieval designs.
It is a unique and durable book that has approximately 400 8 1/2 x 11 parchment pages and is over two inches thick,
The huge parchment journal has been used for numerous occassions, including a record book for Army and Marine battalions, Church guest book, family geneology, and lifetime journal.
