Beautiful Leather Bindings Made for You in the Ancient Spirit>
Making Large Medieval Bibles
I often get asked how long it takes to make a book. The answer depends on the style and size, and especially how many simiar books I can work on at the same tiome.
I like to prepare around half a dozen books at a time over a period of days. The first day, I can remove the covering materials and resurface the books; then I can add the leather bands to the spine and let them dry; when a book is actually ordered, I goldstamp and add the leather using old flat irons as weights; the book has to dry for another day or two before I add the endpapers and add knots, braids, gold fragments and other details.
